A client once told me that they were happy to buy tickets to Europe and then wing their honeymoon while they were there… there is no way I was going to let that happen (his poor wife)! A honeymoon is that one special trip where you can treat yourself and your partner to an experience of a lifetime and it’s also that trip where I can pull out all the stops for you. Honeymoons can be a “drop and flop” experience, the ultimate luxury; it can be a jam-packed adventure, or a mix of it all.
This has to be my favourite request from a client because it allows me to be as creative as I can be! After working out what my client’s tastes are, where they have been before, how long they want to go for, how far they would like to travel and budget, I put together a list of criteria that sums up an adventure that might suit. Once the non-negotiables have been agreed upon… well, the world is their oyster and the planning begins! I’ve sent clients on island-hopping adventures through the Hawaiian Islands on a whim and have planned a glamping experience on the NSW coast with loads of surprises.
I love working with clients who have an open mind about their upcoming trip. It’s fun to get creative, throw about some ideas and see what makes their eyes light up! Some of my clients wanted to go to Europe to celebrate a wedding anniversary. All they knew were the dates and they were open to anything. After spending some time talking about places they had been before, what types of travellers they were and places they were interested in, I was able to plan an itinerary that was romantic, adventurous, relaxing and luxurious – all at the same time. And so their adventure began in Santorini, followed by a Tuscany road trip for some adventure and exploring, then Rome for some culture, and lastly a week on the Amalfi Coast for relaxing.
I love working with clients who know what they want because it’s up to me to give them that AND more. Some of my clients who were going to Indonesia were thinking about doing a detox program on their trip. I recommended one of the most amazing health retreats in the world: COMO Shambhala Estate, in Ubud. After consulting with them on their health goals, I was able to place them on the appropriate wellness program for seven nights.
